Do you still use HabitRPG?

EXTENSIVELY. Oh man, I can safely say that HabitRPG is single-handedly responsible for the huge jump in productivity that I’ve experienced recently.

I got a full-time job a few months ago, and reorganizing my Habit actually really helped me figure out how to balance out my daily tasks and keep track of all the things I still need to do. HabitRPG has also finally started implementing really cool new features, like Boss Fights and Challenges, where you sort of set yourself up in a situation that demands accountability from everyone involved in your party quest. So not only do YOU take damage when you don’t finish your daily tasks, so does your party! And it’s actually very motivating for me, to understand that my actions will affect others, and I personally do very well when others are involved in the same activity with the same amount of dedication.

So basically what I’m saying is THE BEHAVIOR SCIENCE BEHIND HABITRPG IS VERY SOUND. If you get lost in video games easily, then Habit offers a super immediate video game-esque sense of reward for doing otherwise boring Life Things. The Gold and Experience you get in Habit are tangible reinforcers for people like me, who grew up with simple cause-effect motivations like Cut the Grass, Earn Rupees. (And you can bet Hyrule had the neatest lawn in the world.)

For instance, I went to the bank to do a Boring Quest and earned Experience and Gold and I think I found a Potion, and that’s awesome.

The reinforcement is even greater if you can use the phone app, since you can check off those tasks as soon as you complete them while you’re out and about, though usually I still just wait until I get home to check off everything from my browser.

Also we totally all just earned Polar Bear mounts.

Works in progress for this week, each rougher than the last, in hopes that if I post them it will motivate me to finish them faster. Maybe one of these will end up a print?????  ??? ? ?? ? ?

Defeating a phobia comes with a price. When your biggest fear is finally slain, it unravels the chains on all of the smaller ones. You had a right to be afraid. There was more behind it than you suspected.
You defeated the first. You can do it again.

One more post for the afternoon crowd :)
